Flea bites
With hoarding can often come pests. Any animal from fleas to raccoons can be a pest in a hoarded home. With many pests you can become sick from getting bitten or by coming in contact with their feces. For example, flea bites can make people sick or give them disease. Bees can also decide to make hives in the walls of hoarded homes. Coming in contact with rodent feces or a bite by a rodent can spread illnesses.

Animals can often get fleas and there are ways to get rid of a normal amount of fleas in the home. But when someone owns many animals the fleas can get out of control. There is no effective way to get rid of these fleas because of the animals. Also, the fleas would find the clutter in the hoarded home to be a great habitat.
Diseases associated with flea bites
Some people believe that flea bites are harmless but studies have shown that there are diseases associated with flea bites. If you have experienced flea bites, you’ll know that every bite becomes itchy and terribly uncomfortable, and unfortunately, there usually isn’t just one; they bite multiple times at any given attempt! There are 4 diseases that have been discovered that come from flea bites and they are: Murine Typhus, Mycoplasma Haemofelis, Tapeworm, and scratch fever/disease.
The 3 diseases Murine Typhus, Mycoplasma Haemofelis, and scratch fever/disease make you contract a fever. Animals infected by fleas can get sick and if the animal bites or scratches a human, they can contract the disease too. It is a chain of events. By swallowing an infected flea can cause a tapeworm, which is a parasite that will enter your intestines and make you sick. Cats, dogs, and humans can all contract this bug.
